As a retail and commercial bank TSB operates a network of 550 branches across England, Scotland and Wales.
Four of their staff joined us at our Get Hired event on Thursday 23rd May 2019 to recruit for Customer Service Partners for the bank in Edinburgh. The roles they were looking to fill were entry level with no requirement for a background in financial services or a specific technical skillset. The key things that they look for are around customer focus and motivation. Their attitude towards recruitment compliments the ethos of the Get Hired model, looking towards young people’s attributes and qualities rather than skills and experience.
“In terms of yesterday’s Prince’s Trust event. We agree it was fantastic to meet and engage with some really deserving and motivated people who may end up potential candidates.”
TSB provided to be a very popular employer on the day, sparking enthusiasm amongst the young people during the employer pitch when the opportunities for growth and progression were outlined.
“Very impressed with The Trust and the organisation and spirit in which they conduct themselves. All in all, it was an extremely rewarding afternoon and reminds us why we are in recruitment.”
The TSB recruitment process requires young people to complete an online application process following the event. Out of all the young people TSB interviewed on the day, 4 completed the application process and received phone interviews. Three were progressed to assessment centre and one has been offered and accepted a job with TSB, which is great news! The other two candidates were unfortunately not successful, but TSB has given them good feedback to help them improve in future. The young people were strong candidate they just did not quite meet the requirement, however the recruiters at TSB encouraged them to do some specific practice and apply again in the future!
TSB staff who attended contacted us to let us know they were extremely impressed with the day:
“Can you pass on our thanks to the organisers and our hope that we can continue to engage with them nationally throughout the year? Would be good to find out what voluntary opportunities exist as am pretty sure some of us may want to explore these at some point.”
Following on from the event, TSB are now pursuing conversations with The Princes Trust to see how they can potentially support our work with young people nationally!
