In December, The Prince’s Trust worked collaboratively with NatWest and ORM in a ‘hackathon’ to find digital solutions to help us engage SMEs with our ambition to support 1 million young people. The event brought together six teams to solve real-life business challenges, one of which was our project; the Get Hired initiative.
We were curious to uncover how the teams could help us grow in the digital space, expanding our community of SME businesses and young people alike. All ideas had to be developed and prototyped in just 6 hours, with the promise that the winning team would have their ideas taken forward by NatWest and developed further. How fantastic!
Our Innovation Project Lead, Vicky Yorke expressed her excitement for the event saying:
‘This was such an important event for us and we are really grateful to the people from NatWest who gave up their normal job for the day to apply their expertise to our challenges. This type of rapid prototyping is invaluable to a charity like The Prince’s Trust, as we don’t have the resources to get ideas off the ground quickly. This hackathon has given us a wealth of potential solutions that could be turned into real products that will boost the services we provide.’
Following the event, the winning team had the opportunity to present once again to a senior panel at the bank. At this pace, their idea will become a reality in no time; they have continued to collaborate and develop new ideas that will help our Get Hired initiative to become an essential presence in the Recruitment Space.
Watch out for how this unfolds! We at The Trust cannot wait to see how the project group at NatWest evolve the original prototype to help us grow a truly, forward-thinking community of SMEs.
